I happened to be in a fairly boring part of Dubai yesterday, and generally very discouraged by the US political situation. Then I saw something you can see just about anywhere in the world; a group of very young children doing the “hands on the shoulder of the kid in front of you” thing as they entered a park I happened to be walking through.
These kids don’t really care about US politics or any politics for that matter. In fact, I have no idea what they care about; but they were laughing and smiling just like kids anywhere, and it reminded me that the laughter of children is basically an eternal, unstoppable force for good.
