2015 Track and Field Championships – For the US, Not So Great

Sometimes the stars just don’t align, and that’s the case for the US track and field team in Beijing as they try to get ready for next year’s Olympics in Rio. Jennifer Simpson was in medal contention when a runner behind her clipped her shoe, taking it off her foot, and knocking Simpson out of the race. Micheal Tinsley, the 2012 silver medalist, finished last in the 400 meter hurdles after knocking several hurdles down. Jeff Henderson had the 3 best long jumps in the world this season but fouled twice and finished ninth. In the men’s 800 meters the US could not even advance anyone to the finals.

America usually dominates track and field; in Beijing the US is currently in 6th place.
