Micheal Tinsley, the 2012 silver medalist, finished last in the 400 meter hurdles after knocking several hurdles down. Jeff Henderson had the 3 best long jumps in the world this season but fouled twice and finished ninth. In the men’s 800 meters the US could not even advance anyone to the finals.

America usually dominates track and field; in Beijing the US is currently in 6th place.
