Who are you for? Israel? The Palestinians? Doesn’t really make much difference, cause you’re paying for both sides. The United States government used to subsidize tobacco farmers while spending millions to wage anti-smoking campaigns, but now they’ve found an even more senseless way of spending your hard earned taxes. The US gives Israel about $3 billion a year, we guess in order to make sure that all the Arab states really hate us. But just to be even handed, the US Congress has also recently agreed to step up aid to the Palestinians. In the latest round, Israel was awarded with an extra $200 million for its role in the recent death and destruction, while the Palestinians received $50 million.
We’re not exactly sure why the US has to be involved in the intractable, senseless, and endless violence of the Middle East. Why couldn’t we just, y’know, mind our own business, and save our money to educate our children, pay down some credit card debt, or make donations to The Outrage. Every US administration wages a futile campaign to solve problems we don’t really understand, as if Jerusalem was the only city on earth where people had issues with their neighbors.
Yes, yes, we know that the money given to the Palestinians is supposed to be used for humanitarian purposes. And we also know that such money often ends up funding violence. Given the billions we pay at the pump to the oil rich states, we’re not sure why they couldn’t help the Palestinians. As for Israel, tell us again why it serves our geopolitical interest to make sure that Israel survives, and is always the focus of turmoil and anti-Americanism? Hey, if the Israelis need help to finance their religious, statist, militaristic society, we’re certainly not going to stop anyone who wants to make a contribution. But why should tax dollars be used?
And please don’t tell us this has something to do with “The great fight against terrorism”. If the US had taken the sensible policy of letting the religious fanatics in the Middle East fight their own battles, we never would have had September 11.
Well, What can you really expect from the government of the most powerful nation in the world, we are a terrorist nation ourselves, so the war against terrorism will not be won. I won’t fight a holy war!
We, the USA produce some of the most deadliest weapons ever devised. Heck there was a story I saw the other day in the paper where they said the ‘authority figures’ found a stolen truck with something like 96 barrels of Sodium Cyanide on it and more than half was missing.
I agree. No entangling alliances with any portion of the foreign world. Let’s use our resources to defend our country.
It’s the BANKERS, people!
Our government seems to think
that it needs ever increasing
amounts of money to do whatever
it wants to do, within the
limits of the Constitution (and
if you believe they let the
Constitution limit them, I’ve
got a statue in New York Harbor
to sell you). Congress made a
real serious mistake when they
handed over the power of money
creation to the Federal Reserve
Bank, which is no more
“federal” than Federal Express!
President Wilson later saw that
mistake and regretted it, but
it was too late. Congress and
even the President do what the
bankers want them to do. Yup,
ol’ Dubya’s just a puppet on a
string.
Loaning money to both sides in
a conflict is the best way to
make money, and if the
“loanees” (in this case Israel
and Palestine) default on those
loans, guess who picks up the
tab?

Feds to take care of you.
Whenever government tries to do
something “for the public
good,” or “for your safety,” or
“for the children,” the worst
always happens. It always
fails, every single time, and
what was intended never, ever
happens. Look at the War on
Poverty, look at the state our
educational system is in right
now.
Then just look at what a
miserable failure Canada’s
health care system is, and
multiply that by 100. That’s
what we’d get, I guarantee it.
Just call someone, anyone, in
Canada sometime and ask them
how much they like their “free”
health care. I can tell you
right now, they’ll say it
stinks. Guaranteed.
I found your commentary on the mideast to be “over the top”
First of all, simply being objective, it is, and has always been, US policy to support democracies. Israel is the only democracy in the Mideast and as such, we are mandated to support it.
Secondly, as to “minding our own business”; such an attitude will surely lead us down the path of ruin. Imagine if FDR took that attitude and kept us out of WWII. Germany would surely have taken over Europe, developed the A-bomb first, and we’d all be speaking German. If we ignore the Mideast, terrorists will still hate us (and attack us) for our support (by simply buying their oil) of the Middle East princes, who rule their countries as dictators. Remember, Bin Laden was exiled from Saudi Arabis for being a dissident.
It is impossible to separate our nation’s needs from those of the rest of the world…unless we all decide to move to the moon.
Why is it taking so long for the Arab countries to wipe israel off the face of the earth? Then the US could use the billions sent there to rid our country of undesirables and be pure once again.
This outrage on fighting both sides(Israel and Palestinians)is very stupid like you said we should deal with our own problems and not deal with what is going on in the Middle East. If we did that everything in the U.S. would be alot better. Even though we still have to deal with voilence and other bad things in the U.S. We should just stick with our own problems.
It is always fine with me that the Gremans could have taken over every thing and that we would all be speaking Greman. We are not a terrorist nation you are just tripen. All the Jews should have been killed when the Hollcaust happened!!!!!
We need to stop playing global cop, being basically an ATM machine to the world. We cut down the funding for programs that will directly benefit the citizens of OUR country…yet, anytime any other nit-poop little country wants (NOT needs) money, we gladly send it off. There are numerous other industrialized nations who are smart enough to NOT fund the planet, why don’t we use the same type of thinking. Let some other country have a turn at sticking their noses into every issue. Far as the Israeli issue, until the politicos no longer care about the jewish vote in this country (not likely), we will ALWAYS be sending money over there under the guise-du-jour.
It’s interesting how uneducated lazy white trash are becoming more like the black people in this country. Instead of taking responsibility for their failures blacks blame white people and the drunken unemployed white trash blame the Zionist Jews. Bottom line is that Jews in this country work hard and are successful. We should send Israel more military aid and give them the green light to eliminate the pigs that were dancing in the streets when our people were killed.
Yes. A thousand times, “Yes”. I agree with your entire post. The whole middle east situation is out-of-hand and, like the Irish ‘problem’, would settle down quite quickly if foreigners would stop throwing money at it.
Uuuummmmm, we need more casinos so the government can get more of it’s citizens money, so it can spend more USA dollars on other countries problems to protect us, uummm, someway … I’m not sure how.
Am I assimulated enough?
The Israelites settled in Europe. The Jews are Judeans. The Federal Reserve is unconstitutional and so is foreign aid.
The only thing I don’t understand is why the surviving relatives of those young Islamic pilots haven’t sued the USA for negligence in allowing the erection of those ridiculously tall buildings in NYC and recklessly endangering the lives of pilots everywhere. I’ll bet their emotional trauma was so great that they only partied half as much as the rest of them celebrating the deaths of so many Americans. It seems the Twin Towers were likely part of a conspiracy against the sexually pure Islamics who would obviously become distressed and disoriented at the sight of those humongous phallic symbols sticking straight up and waving around in the air. In fact the Holy Jihad would have a much greater chance of achieving a victory for Islam if it were waged inside the halls of the US justice system. Oh, wait! Maybe they wouldn’t like having to hire Jewish lawyers to represent them. And even if they were able to somehow reconcile thems to that reality, I suppose they’d be really torqued when they got the bill for the legal fees. You’d think the Muslims would be more flexible like their founder. After all, when the mountain refused to come to Mohammad, he simply went to alternate plan B [Mohammad went to the mountain] and with the right spin Dr.’s, everybody was happy with that.
Get real,, what difference does it make..
The One World Folks are controlling it all any way.
The US should back Israel and not the Palestineans. Their claim to territory on the West bank is a lie Biblically and historically. The Quam Ran Scrolls proved that the Israeli’s were on the West Bank before the Palestineans.
Why didn’t Jordan give the Palestineans the West Bank when it was under their control for 30 years? Because they know what Israel and the United States know that they are nothing but terrorists, liars, murderers and thieves.
The US is a Christian country founded on Christian principles, therefore the Bible says “Those who bless Israel will be blessed and those who curse Israel will be cursed.” The Bible says that not only does Israel own all that she has conquered, the West Bank, but Israel according to the Bible owns much more land that the Arabs are now inhabiting. According to God and the Bible the day is coming when Israel will have all that God has given her.
As Christians the US should always back Israel and as a democracy, Israel is the most powerful democracy in the Middle East and a haven for everyone trying to escape Arab/Persian domination.
That is so totally f### ridiculous anyway .. talking about trillions and millions and billions like we are playing a game of penny poker. But You know what? It is much the same .. except in the poker game the coins actually do exist !!!
I find that while sitting back and watching things of this world unfold, it seems to me that we are growing into our own shadows. What I mean is this: First, we feel outraged at the atrosities bestowed on our young and unborn and for the lack of not “being a part” of it all directly, we sit back – outraged. Second: We allow our familiar existence and surroundings (false safety) to keep us from our might. Finally: We just don’t speak up. I mean, it seems that the majority just say, “what a shame, but it’s not happening to me” then we all hope someone takes care of it. Now, what I have been talking about is the unbelievable, uncontrollable, inconceivable speed in which our beloved country is losing itself. We had better wake up, band together however possible, and not feel that this task is so enormous that we back down. Trust me, it only takes ONE small voice of reason and a belief so strong that it will become infectious. Remember the old addage – It is the grasshopper who needs us puny, little ants! You know who the grasshoppers are and we, the ants put them there. Without us, they are nothing, and they hope we never find out. Or, I guess, one day we’ll just get so darn mad and revert back to taking a position, a stand, speak out and stop standing timid and shaking in our own shadows.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to voice my Outrage.
