When the first Harry Potter book was optioned by Warner Brothers, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, the studio's young production cheif, was criticized by his then boss for putting down 500K for what was called a children's story. The first film grossed nearly one billion worldwide, and the the whole franchise may generate as much as $5 Billion.
