Not long ago simply completing a marathon, anywhere, under any conditions, was impressive. That's no longer the case....In order for a marathoner to stand out these days, he's got to either rack up a ridiculous number of races, complete those races in ridiculous places, or both. We've been everywhere, done everything, and now all that's left is to do everthing everywhere. The fifty states club: Join by running a marathon in all fifty states. The Seven Continents Club. The Grand Slam club: all seven continents, plus one at the North Pole. Repead for a Double Grand Slam. The Quarter Century Club: Run the Boston Marathon. Then do it again every year for the next 24 years. The Seven and Seven Club: Run a marathon on every contienent, then climb the highest mountain on every contiennt.
