A Stunning Anomaly In The US Midwest

Since establishing the world’s first national park in 1872, the United States has set aside 59 national parks to preserve and protect its natural wonders. The majority of those are in the western US, with a handful dotted across the east. Between these two clusters is the open expanse of the Great Plains, which historically has been overlooked by naturalists and conservationists and is still dismissed by travellers as “fly-over states”.
