San Jose Homeless Remove 24 Tons Of Trash From Coyote Creek

Amanda Fukumoto, right, and Gary Giguiere, center, sit and talk in Fukumoto’s encampment along a portion of Coyote Creek in San Jose, Calif., on Thursday, July 28, 2016. “Coyote Creek Homeless Stream Stewarts” is a group led by Amanda Fukumoto, who is herself homeless, that believes the homeless can and should be a key part of the clean creek effort. She rallied the homeless to keep their encampments clean by bagging their waste and trash. She hands out garbage bags and offers incentives, in the form of gift cards, for participation.
