It’s a tough time in the retail business. First of all, the world economy is on shaky ground; people won’t be spending money from stock profits if they don’t have any. Secondly, the US has far too much retail space, far more, per capita, than other rich countries. Thirdly, purchases are moving online. And lastly, the younger generation increasingly values experiences, like travel and dining out, over more things like a 5th handbag.
