Granted, you and I, alas, will not be making a command decision as to whether to purchase this watch for $ 2.6 million. And, yeah, we get it – its’a work of art, although not truly a one of kind – 7 were made. So this is a collectible item – like a vintage Ferrari or a Warhol – for a few billionaires. And yes, With 1,366 movement components and 214 case components, it is a complex instrument.  And it took some very skilled craftsmen 7 years to design and build.  And we love complex objects of craftsmanship.

 

Still, we’d get a lot more pleasure from feeding a bunch of hungry kids – and you could feed thousands for $2.6 million.
