Do gentleman look at pornography, or watch dirty videos?

It’s hard to see the gentler type of pornography, like Playboy in the earlier days, as anything but a celebration of really beautiful bodies, before it became a celebration of the art of the plastic surgeon. But what started as a fairly harmless diversion for the few has become an epidemic of wasted time for the many.

On the other hand, part of being a gentleman is not wishing to see anyone – man, woman or child – degraded. A key part of the code of the good guy is to wish to see, and better yet to help, people at their best. The beauty of a glorious body is something to celebrate – the shame of an ignoble act is something to repudiate.

Perhaps more fundamentally, a man at his best is a “doer”, a man of action, not an observer, and certainly not a leering observer. So while we have no objection to the softer sides of the porn trade, we would rather focus our limited time and energy on the real thing – it may not be quite as perfect as what you see online, but, as the Bible says, once I became a man I left behind the things of childhood. And ultimately porn is really for the kids.
