The longest working hours and least hope of relief from the call of duty burden the very people who can most easily afford to purchase their ease. As being overworked became a point of pride with the rich, the less privileged have been quick to insinuate that they, too, are allowed no respite. It has become a conventional form of flattery to tell people 'I know how busy you must be.'
