Male and female brains are different, and these differences begin in utero with exposure to sex hormones. Men are generally better at spatial tasks, throwing projectiles at targets, and mathematical reasoning. Women excel at verbal memory and fluency and detecting emotions. Females are better wired for communication between some brain regions, while men appear more specialized in others. Part of the corpos callosum, which connects the two hemispheres, is proportionately larger in women. so is another connecting structure, called the anterior commissure.
